''Demon Days was glorious'' [2]

Demon Days was a whole journey into a weird post-apocalyptic world. Lovely record, made with lots of care.

I am quite surprised at the moderate ratings this album is getting. I have always liked Tool, but I never was such an absolute devoted fan like most. I have been listening to this album now for some weeks and am basically just halfway through, repeating the first 4 tracks over and over and really loving Pneuma and Invincible of course. Now just getting into Descending and finding out what a gem it is. 7empest still only just listened to one or two times.

I think Tool is this band that used to be cool to love and now is cool to hate. Maybe the album is lacking the some catchiness making it a little hard to digest. Overall is can feel like more of a display of skill then an actual melodic piece of art. However, the more I listen to it the more I start to anticipate the great riffs and drums and the album starts to feel more recognisable and understandable.

Anyway, I find myself getting back to this album over and over, which is something I never really had with other Tool albums. I just love riffs and drums and this for me is definitely my favourite Tool album to date.
