If you surfed past MTV in the early 00's you had like a 50% chance to stumble upon Tool at any given time.

You should listen to Stinkfist at least, just to see what all the hoopla is about.

And this is why you never trust the ratings of someone who's regularly off their face. Anything can sound amazing? Why bother trying to discover the best possible music if any old crap will do.

Both of those statements are nonsense. The truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Not to those two individuals.

Drugs don't make music sound better. Different drugs make things sound different, or more accurately make you see/hear them from a slightly different angle (which can make a profound difference sometimes admittedly, other times not so much). For example I had heard the song Deliverance by Opeth a million times before, but it wasn't until I listened to it on substances that it sunk in just how creepy that song is emotionally. When I was sober I just focused on the sheer technicality and breadth of it and not much else.

'Both of those statements are nonsense.'

I agree, just something irks me about that attitude. Generally I wouldn't trust the opinions/recommendations of someone with that mind-set. Of course if they dabble here & there but also listen to plenty of music stone cold sober then its different.

I listened to one of my 5s for the first time whilst under the influence, so I'm not completely on the other side of the fence.

I mean if you're doing tons of drugs every day odds are pretty good you're not spending much time articulating thoughts about music on neckbeard central over here, you're probably too busy living fast. Unless you're Rodrigo.
