I agree actually it doesn't feel fun but I think Chino sounds really engaging in this. He really pours his heart out here because he's not happy in life and it's almost like he's crying for help.

Yeah they really hated each other back then.

I have the CD and you know on the back end of the booklet there's this page where the band members give thanks to different people.

Well basically, everyone had like 5 paragraphs of people they wanted to thank, including all the band members as well. Not Chino tho.

He just wrote : Thank you, mom.

Those final ending guitar strums on Riviere are so crisp and beautiful it gets me teary eyed. Perfect album ending.

The only thing I would ever want to change about this album is the track order, and probably remove the last minute of Pink Cellphone or put it way after the end as a hidden track. I guess I'd maybe take out Xerxces, it's the only track I'd consider somewhat weak but I still enjoy it.

I'll admit that listening to this after Gore makes this album's production sound masterful

It's just really washed out and the drums are really low on pretty much every song

Phantom Bride is probably the most obvious example, along with Acid Hologram. It's got a really reverbed out sound and it just doesn't fit the album.

Tonally it's mostly fine though. It just sounds like it was mixed in an afternoon

I kinda wonder how Gore would sound with the Diamond Eyes production style

Probably badass

I still dig Gore though.

honestly my main issue with gore production/mixing was the guitars

first time I listened to the album and the chorus of prayers/triangles kicked in I was genuinely shocked at how the guitars basically sounded like atonal white noise on what was supposed to be a really melodic passage

whatever, listened to this again today too - I can't imagine re-arranging the track order for this one. it's not self-titled, these tracks feel like they were meant to be where they are and trying to throw them around would cause some weird imbalance through the whole album
