Tbh I started really getting the Black Sabbath love once I heard some trad doom that was essentially Sabbath worship. That and Ozzys unique voice just sold the darkness a lot better than a lot of metal vocalists.

Anyone here see any connection between War Pigs and Holy Wars (Megadeth)?
I say this because I read that Mustaine said he loved Sabbath, but wasn't influenced by them as a musician.

good pick ofc. think probably electric funeral for me on the second go around. that riff is evil as hell, can't believe it's from 1970 lol

absolutely. love the use of quiet/loud dynamics here too. like when hand of doom or war pigs kicks in again it sounds massive.

Remaster kind of kills the dynamic range, but yes, the part in Hand of Doom where the whole band comes in is so huge.
Have a soft spot for this one because of the way it fuses heaviness and a sense of swing to the rhythms. After this one I kinda find Sabbath started playing a lot more straight, which is fine, but just doesn’t have the magic this one did. You can definitely feel the Cream and big band influences here in Ward’s playing.

interesting take but i can see it based on what i know. they kinda gradually drop the bluesy/jazzy stuff after this i'm guessing? v pumped to jam master of reality next i know that's supposed to be their heaviest.
