Yeah I feel the same, I currently can't justify rating this a full two points higher than other Ulcerate albums, but I'm not ready to bump those ratings yet either.

Just got around this one a couple of days ago and it's great, but a 4.3 avg is ludicrous."
it's
0.1 away from rounding to your own rating
how is that ludicrous

this is musically incredible but i'm finding the mastering on all these records very fatiguing. wonder how good the lp for this one is

Album Rating: 3.5 | Sound Off
he aint wrong, they have really botched some stuff production-choice wise
mostly on EIF and SOP, which are unfortunately their two best
i only listen to the vinyl rips for those now and like it better

I remember hearing Vermis for the first time and thinking, “man I wish the drums were a little louder.”
Then Shrines came out and I was like, “why is the snare so loud?”
|
| |
they're all too loud in general and there is no real reason for it
bit frustrating as these guys might well be the #1 band right now to me

This might be a 5

"Tundra have you tried reading the lyrics yet I know that usually helps you"
it depends, also don't bring that up here anymore cause apparently it's a dumb way to assess an album or whatever the fck, I could care less anyway

Yeah, I kinda felt like the cymbals were too quiet on this record.
So imagine this: Ulcerate, Gorguts, Deathspell Omega, Discordance Axis, and Portal all on tour together.

They only write lyrics to feel when they scream...we only have to feel them...ah

I think all their albums sound great.

This and Shrines have my favorite production. Not that the others didn't fit (EiF is kind of jagged and Destroyers and Vermis were more muddy) but I like the cleaner/smoother approach.

EiF’s abrasive production is one of its selling points for me. It’s just so suffocating. It’s the only way I can imagine it sounding.
|

they don't sound great, they are brickwalled to shit

wouldn't have it any other way

i guess that is technically subjective
