New album is easily my most anticipated aoty Its really the first new meshuggah album that's came out since I've been a huge fan I got into them back in 2016 after this record dropped. And the fact it very well might be their last.... yeah it just apes anything else that will drop this year.

It's sad to think about this possibly being their last, but they've had a hell of a career and I would respect their decision

Did they mention this being their last album? I mean I wouldn't be surprised because they're all in their 50's now and this kind of music can't be too sustainable for that much longer lol but damn that would be rough
I guess it'd be better for them to have a near perfect discography though
Also @Em - damn, that's exciting dude. My first new album from them was Catch Thirtythree

Yeah dark side excited forsure. I no catch 33 didnt disappoint you haha. No they didnt say it was their last It might not be I'm just assuming it seems like it would be a good place to stop after touring on it for a few years tho. Who knows I'm just going to assume I guess

If they're still doing this shit in their 60s, then their facade of being human and not actual machines will fade and their cover will be blown to the public.

Yeah I'm sure this shit is probably getting difficult for Tomas to do live. I totally get it if they hang it up

i highly doubt tomas would tire out even by then since he's a goddamn machine like does he even human

Yeah but my dad is in his 60s and just imagining him and his friends doing anything remotely as active as Tomas is darkly hilarious. I can't see him doing the same shit in several years, humans weren't really meant to do stuff like that for that long lol
If he was a different kind of musician it would be different, but his entire career is like an endurance test.

And then you've got someone like Bobby Blitz from Overkill, who's 62 and still sings with the same energy and power that he did in the 80s... and after having cancer and a stroke. Crazy

Theres alot of bands that has members late 50s early 60s yeah. The more I think about it maybe I spoke to soon who knows they could drop a other record in the future I mean as long as they stay in shape. They dont HAVE to tour on it

Drumming like Tomas takes a fair amount of athleticism though. Some guys can do it but most guys can't. How many metal drummers from the 80s and early 90s are still playing to that level?

If I were them at that age, I'd change genres to doom metal so I could play one note per 3 minutes and relax.

"How many metal drummers from the 80s and early 90s are still playing to that level?"
One of the only drummers I can think of is Gene Hoglan. He's still been performing really well with Dark Angel and Testament in recent years

Well he is an atomic clock
