Keep Your Eyes Peeled, The Vampyre Of Time And Memory, Kalopsia, I Appear Missing and the t/t are fecking masterpieces, the other 5 are good QOTSA songs that keep this album from being too hopeless and depressing. Prefect balance.

It's not like any of them are audible really. They're there to make Josh's vocals sound weird by being a presence in the background.

His voice is blended with Josh's, and Josh can sing pretty low too, so unless you knew Lanegan was on it, you could just think it was just Josh. Also, didn't think anyone would ever complain about Lanegan on a QOTSA song, my favorite songs on SftD are sung by him.

No but I hate when bands turn into projects (aka rated R, songs for the deaf)

I don't know, man, I feel like with QOTSA that kinda thing always sounded organic.

they're a great band, but when the album is full of guests I start to get annoyed because I feel like they are lying to me.

I heard the new track by accident before I was 'ready' & man am in agreement with that one guy who said it sounded like Era Vulgaris (that's not a good thing)... also, yes the vocals were far too prominent. Not that Josh isn't a great vocalist but it'd be nice to actually hear the instruments.

I can confirm the new song sucks. Damn. It's so boring. I'd like to say something else more constructive about it but honestly that's the one overriding feeling I'm getting & anything else has already been alluded to.

If you liked Era Vulgaris I can see it being enjoyable. That's definitely the sort of vibe I'm getting but with pop-friendly production where the guitars aren't prominent enough. Not that it sounds particularly interesting instrumentally.
