High Violet is the best album ever made though.

If they continued making albums that sound like this they'd have stayed about as big as The Walkman and we wouldn't be talking about them is my hunch but whatever, this is a good album

lol they were not as big as arcade fire bro. the national were not selling out arenas and the hollywood bowl, or headlining coachella in 2011. in fact i think they played coachella that year or around then, outdoor stage

in any event the walkmen are a better band :0

There probably is a correlation between loving The Walkmen and thinking this is top tier National

Not saying it's good or bad, just saying, taste and that

Sleep Well is incredible and has an emotional maturity that this one doesnt, but there's a certain level of unhinged passion on here thats hard to match imo

The Walkmen are great, they deserve more attention here.

Yeah Doof even now The National are nowhere near as big as Arcade Fire. I'm seeing AF at a near 20k capacity venue and The National at a 3.5k (granted National sold out right away)

Ok, somewhere between The Walkmen and Arcade Fire.

I would say that this one touches on that same level of emotional maturity in Soho Riots and Geese.

Its a shame that Arcade Fire are that much bigger being they pretty much suck hard aside from like 7 songs
