I'd rather listen to people destroying their vocal chords accompanied with interesting music like the one presented here than stuff like overrated Ulcerate tbh.

Not saying that Ulcerate isn't great, I really like them, but this is waaaaay better. Ulcerate is sputnikcore so it'll obviously get a higher avg. Just wanted to point that out.

I gave their latest album a 4, so don't get on my case lol.

Oranssi Pazuzu is more interesting than this, yes
(even if it's a bit of a mess)

"interesting in what way?"
in that it blends different stylings more distinctly and is paced in a way that foregrounds this
which ig is a reflection of how their new one is a well camouflaged novelty act whereas this is all about focus and refinement. guess which my attention span prefers

I'll admit my enjoyment of both is comparable until I press play

yeah, I haven't heard the new pazuzu but the composition itself is typically more interesting to me than sonic eclecticism (but that can be interesting too)
if they can dip into those multiple styles without sacrificing the tone and consistency of the record it's probably pretty good

tbh I don't think their fusion is anything close to seamless (though it doesn't hamper the sequencing or relative consistency between tracks), but being able to pick it apart is part of what makes it interesting, maybe.
this is impeccable in many respects, but i haven't found it nearly as gratifying so far. bit of a mean complaint and not really a criticism, but it's got a 4.3 avg; it can take it ;]

I mean I still gave this a 4 lmao, which is pretty good. It's just that I found it overwhelmingly abrasive, and that's fine, but it kinda diminishes the enjoyment/replayability factor for me.

yes lol, I think his point was more that dgd are a meme band, katatonia aren't far off, and i don't even know where to start on trivium (haven't heard their new one though)
dipping into Inversion and ok, maybe this rips more than I remembered

Yeah, they are all meme bands lol, but I enjoyed their albums more. I see myself listening to those way more, while I see myself listening to this 4 times per year, at most.

"Can you please explain what exactly the appeal of a band like this is? I'm just a grumpy old woman; it's as simple as that. How on earth do they get people to enjoy their music? Do they just have a higher tolerance for it? Do they have deeper emotional attachments?"

this but unironically
