Cannibal corpse was my first DM around age 12, ulcerate reignited my interest with their new record then I realized I never listened to death somehow and now I’ve been jamming their whole discog. Vox on this sound like something between Refused and black metal which is kinda jarring, but damn if the instrumentals aren’t tight as fuck

going through this atm (just finished track 2) and I can see why I only ever got half way through this in the past. Something just feel so... off idk how to even put it into words. Not enough "edge"? Maybe the riffs? I really dont know

Yeah its the riffs mostly
There's about 30-60 seconds of material I enjoy per track, majority of which is bass work, though sometimes all the pieces fall into place for that stretch (about 6 minutes on from A Moment of Clarity, for example). But, man, I just found this boring as hell. Pains me to slap this rating on a Death album. Guess I should have left SBG for my final album spin.
