I like the high pitched Kill vocals more than anything St. Anger and later, where he can't really sing well but doesn't sound badass either.

Well...I'm pretty sure if the songs were better, i'd like St Anger vocals more than No life til leather. St Anger sucks because the compositions, lyrics, etc. suck but aside from that, Hetfield at that time sang and played guitar better than on No life til leather ^^
Stylistically speaking, sure, i like No life til leather's style of vocals better than the ones on St Anger...but he sings better on those than on the former. So it all depends what we call vocals ^^ if it's just the style, i agree. If it's the whole package, then i disagree =p
