He's basically a bass god on that album.

"It's a meme for good reason. The production fucking blows and really hurts the album by cutting out one of the most interesting members of the band and blasting the least talented one over everyone else."
It doesn't "fucking blow" - most ppl who say that are happy to immediately go and listen to some lo fi BM afterwards, yet this is the album everyone gets their pants in a twist over. To act like this is the nadir of production values, especially in metal of all genres, is absurd. At least it has a distinctive sound and identity in its sterility. I'll agree that cutting Jason out was awful from the band, but at the end of the day that's really just an emotional argument and it doesn't annul the stellar songwriting.
"LMFAO - Dude, listen to ANY other metal band cover any of these songs, and the drumming shits all over this."
Dude, my point is that these songs wouldn't even exist to be covered without Lars. And why do you think so many bands cover them? Because they're some of the best metal songs of all time, and all were written by Lars

The problem with the production is that I can hear the bass in a 128kbps download of Nattens Madrigal more than I can hear it here, and this album very clearly needs it, specially when your drummer is Lars fucking Ulrich.

You literally just proctracted your earlier comment. You have added nothing of value to the debate.
Please in future just write: "le production + Lars man bad" if you want to repeat

Big fan of how he talks about this (at many times very repetitive) stellar songwriting like it doesn't need a bass or something. Do you guys imagine if instead of the bass, one of the guitars disappeared? Or the drums? Or the vocals? I wonder if people would defend the album's production then.

i mean the album pretty much already only has one guitar track besides the guitar solos
|
| |
And I'd be glad if that wasn't the case, but that's besides the point. At least they didn't make one of them disappear and only appear for the solos, right?

> one of the best songwriters in metal history
Lmao can't get any of his material below 6 minutes, recycles the same dry, mid-paced shit riff for the entire track. 10/10 songwriter, 10/10 drummer too.

... You know what? That's a bit weird.

Because MOP is a good album and this is not.

I agree with that but the difference is kinda big, isn't it?

MOP is the least great of their first four albums. It's definitely not a bad album but the only thing it has better than the other three is its production.

I'd say Kill Em All is the least great because it feels particularly unrefined in comparison. KEA is a 7/10 from me, this and Ride are 10's and Master's a 9.

What can I say. Extreme boredom and mosquito production don't work for me.

I'd like to defend MoP over this and I do believe that it is better but I think that at this point the only Metallica album I like is Kill 'Em All so, eh.
