I sleep so much better after listening to am album. Lately it's been a rotation of Thy Light, Paysage, Ahab, and Moonsorrow.

I haven't used an album to fall asleep in awhile. The last time was We Lost the Sea's Departure Songs

So I got around to giving this another listen today, and it's still only barely a 4.5. The ending tracks drag on a bit.

Listen while reading the lyrics. My interpretation is that it's a man being led away by death (the pale companion) and he's reminiscing on his regrets in life -- particularly a woman whose untimely passing he blames on himself.

"Her haunting, contorted despair was etched into the wood's grain

Though fire rages within me, no fire burns fiercer than her desire

The shape whispers my name

You were the lugubrious spirit

Who haunted the oak of wonder

You were the geist that warned this frozen silent storm

You were but a ghost in my arms"

That's pretty cool, but the ending tracks will still be boring to me.

Ashes Against the Grain is so much better imo.

Ashes only beats this by a hair and probably because im more metal inclined, although Odal and In the shadow are arguably better then anything on ashes.

@Hawks look at what ive been digging for the last 20 days lol

@Sevengill ive never heard of them but i will definitely check them out if theyre anything like this
