I mean I love this album, but I still have some critiques. It Only Smiles is the only weak song on this album.

I know you very much dislike Periphery, Pika, but you right... III is utter trash.

Interesting! Garden in the Bones, Reptile, and Blood Eagle are my favorites. Crush is a banger, too, and don't get the hate.

I'm with you on Reptile and Blood Eagle and Crush as well. I'm happy they did something different for them and pulled it off so well. Good stuff.

I'm not too big on Garden tbh, it's good song, but not a favorite of mine. Further highlights for me are Smiles, Sentient Glow and Satellites. I dig the other songs as well, but I've got preferences

That's really cool! Same ratings, pretty different reasons. Satellites is in my top 4, but I always have to mention Crush cause of the hate.

Misha should go to bass duties, I agree with that. He is a much more rhythmic player than the other two anyway. Jake loves his atmospheric playing, and Mark loves his melodic riffs, and Misha doesnt like to play solos very much. So it makes perfect sense.

Not as trash you buddy, there is many songs on P3 that are just as good as P4 at the very least

I don't think they will but yeah it'd be nice for someone to be playing bass at their live shows again. Just kinda lame how they put the album bass tracks through the PA like that. Prob saves them a ton of money though.

I will say, I bought the tab book for this album, and they play three different guitar parts at once a lot more than I thought they did. Curiously enough, they have one guitar pitched an octave down on a lot of their low end parts (like the low notes in the main Reptile riffs for example) to I guess fill out the guitar tone... which I thought was bass's purpose but what do I know lol

interesting, it would be cool to see the individual stems of the tracks to see what guitar plays what, etc. might have to take a look somehow

The heavy section starting at 9:47 in Reptile is the most audible example off the top of my head.

They also do it throughout almost all of Church Burner but there is so much more going on with the drums and vox so it's harder to pick up.

yup. I like IV better, but III had The Way the News Goes, Absolomb, Flatline, Habitual Line-Stepper and Lune which all kick ass.

New Bulb is ok but I can't say that it has me stoked for the album. I've enjoyed some of his previous singles a lot more.

yes I agree, hes made much better stuff years and years back, I would have preferred if he rerecorded some of the most notable tracks from the past and compile in such a way that has an album flow to it

I think Misha is a great songwriter, but it's hard to go to solo stuff after some great songwriting with Jake and Mark. Feels like something is missing (them).

At some point I plan to sift through his released Demos and do just that. But haven't gotten around to it yet.

@Garth His melodic stuff is farrrrrrr more interesting than his chuggy stuff.
