some serious nostalgia with the users itt

Indeed. I just found out Waior is making reviews again, which is shocking to me. Although maybe his Anberlin days are behind him

Not only that but he's been reinstated as a contributor! Maybe if we say Colin Meloy 3x he will appear itt.

Well, hi there, toxin! Your name popping up was one of the main reasons I commented, I think, ha ha. Haven't seen you on here in a long time.

Hello Ecnal! LOL I do log in from time to time. It's like, some time around 2014, I kind of just stopped listening to music actively as a hobby. But sometimes I'll listen to something that gets me feeling some kind of way, and this is still the place my brain returns to. And usually SS has written a great review about that music anyway hahaha.

I'm actually listening to Cities for the first time in years, for no reason in particular, I just had The Unwinding Cable Car stuck in my head and decided to listen to the thing in full. To my delight, I found out I still really enjoy this album. The alt rock stuff is *fine*, but the soft/ acoustic moments are still really good.

It's probably more like a 3.5-4 for me at this point in time, but still. It's nice to know I still enjoy the things I did a decade ago.

Inevitable is really beautiful. I feel like the vocal harmonies in the chorus really do it justice. It almost feels like it should come off as cheesy, but it just doesn't. I wonder if the song was written with someone in mind, since it just feels pretty authentic.

Dismantle Repair might be the second best song after (*fin) though. I really enjoy the lyrics in this one, it kinda feels like later Anberlin where they really stepped up their lyric writing.

Aw, that sucks. Or maybe it doesn't, if you are good with it not being a hobby anymore. If it works for you, great!

Even when I am not active on here from time to time (it took me 8 years to hit 10k, ha) I am usually still looking for new music to get into, but this website def got me way more into it, like a hobby, as you say. I have never really thought about it like that, I guess

Cable Car will probs always be one of my higher ranked Anberlin songs, especially for their more chill/ballady style stuff

brooo the users in this thread though. Hi Cyg, hi Emim, hi Havey. Been a while!

Yeah I dunno Ecnal! I just fell out of it. I do listen to a lot of classical and soundtrack music (so instrumental stuff) and a bit of jazz. Those genres just don't make me want to talk on Sputnik, y'know? So maybe that's part of it, there's an entire world of classical music so it's not like I'm not listening to lots of music

Underrated part of this album: the bridge in A Whisper & A Clamor! The little guitar lick there is so nice.

Good to see you back round these parts, man!

For better or for worse, I've never really lost the fire for listening to music like this.

Jazz threads don't get a lot of love on here, I've noticed

A bump in a jazz thread may not get a comment back for quite some time

Almost like a response from my good buddy toxin
