I fucking wish. they only came around where I live once that I can remember (which is weird) and I was on the other side of the country

funny thing is, I listened to ASOB before I listened to BTMI, even though BTMI had been around for a few years at that point. I didn't have a good first impression of BTMI but I loved ASOB so I didn't really give them a chance for a while

If TLoD was a bit longer and stayed consistent while doing so, it may be my favorite album ever.

They were one of the first bands I discovered on sputnik back in 2011 when the Vacation thread was blowing up but I listened Shit That You Hate and then never again until kman started his crusade

I started with ASOB's Radiohead covers. I don't even remember how or why. And so it turned me off of them for a long time. But Three Cheers is amazing.

i didn't have a good impression with either for some reason, and i still don't like three cheers as much as any btmi album

but yeah took me awhile to come around to jeff and his wacky antics. which is odd because i was into ska (streetlight manifesto, catch 22, choking victim, leftover crack, rancid and operation ivy mostly) hard for years before jamming btmi at all, even though i first heard of em in like 2009 i just didn't bother (prob cuz some scene chick told me about em and i didnt trust her music taste... silly young me). now i love btmi way more than any of those bands

i probably wouldn't have appreciated them as much at 16 as i did when i was an official "twentysomething" anyways so whatever. but i do often wonder

That's kind of how I was with ska. I listened to a shitload of it, but it took me forever to check out Streetlight, who I still believe recorded the best ska album ever, even though I now prefer BTMI overall.

yeah I've gotta say, listening to them as a twentysomething now as compared to a teenager when I first heard them is a huge difference. I appreciate them so much more now, and they were one of my favorite bands even then. so that's saying something

catch 22 made the best ska album if u ask me. tho they're pretty much proto-streetlight on Keasbey lol.

SLM actually got me into ska at 9th grade, they were pretty popular at my school among the "stoner/musician" crowd. yet no one talked about btmi

Catch-22 sure got around to releasing bullshit hard and fast after Tomas left though. I think they had like two good songs without him.

in high school I was alllll about political punk and the works, and my friends were into metal and harcore, but we all had common grounds in ska I used to be huge into ska, which got me into ASOB through Streetlight's last.fm station I believe

Are you referring to BTMI or Streetlight, Mx?

Btmi have never been big, the only people who knew about them for a long time were people who were really into ska

Btmi broke up while they were increasing in popularity at a rapid rate so I wonder if that had anything to do with them breaking up apart from every other reason

yeah Rowan, the lyrics become so much better as they become more relatable. not sure if that's really a great thing though haha

Or fucking ASOB? Fuck.

Have you jammed any Streetlight or ASOB yet, Row? I recommend both hard. I know you're a lyric man too, and Tomas Kalnokey is like the best lyricist ever.
