oh damn does the 2023 remaster open up the mix on this.

is there a 2023 remaster as well? the 2011 version is definitely different from the original, but I think I'll always take the original mix over the remaster. Something in the drums really throws me off, I feel like I'm listening to Gene bang on tupperware

The 2023 remaster is actually pretty good. The one thing I'll give the 2011/Relapse remaster is the guitar solos sound really good but everything else sounds really muddy to me.

In this album's case, a (proper) remaster was necessary imho

just listened to some of the 2023 remaster and it surely is superior to the 2011

Yea I just re-listened to the 2023 remaster and honestly it might be my favorite version as of now. Also, think I gotta give this album a 5, it's so fucking good

Thanks for making us aware of the existence of this version. The production was always a big issue for me with individual thought patterns and the new one definitely improves a lot

glad to share, seems like I'm not the only one who thought it was needed. the "woah" moment for me was hearing Andy's solo in Imagination.

It was definitely needed.
Last year I actually went down a rabbit hole of trying to find the "best" mix of this album because the 2011 version sounded so off to me. I settled on some obscure 1999 re-release version that I had to rip off a CD (lol). But I feel like this 2023 version combines the best aspects of the original mix and the Relapse remaster.
The 2011 Relapse remaster was so fucking muddy (minus the solos) and it really sucked extra hard if you compared it to what the Human remaster sounds like.

Basically all of the Death remasters have been huge improvements over the originals and I don't say that often about remasters. The Leprosy remaster shits on the original

I just listened to the 2023 Philosopher remaster and i have to disagree. I vastly prefer the Relapse Remaster to be honest. In a direct comparison the 2023 version falls flat. the Relapse version is a little muddy but the overall sound is huge and that is lacking in the 2023 version

Human remaster honestly added little to no value. Drums and bass are fuller but they were fine before

It's subjective but the Relapse version always sounded like I was listening to the album partially underwater

Damn this 2023 remaster sounds really good.
Too bad it's only available as that ugly splattered vinyl, apparantly. :/
