Thy Catalfaque is imo one of the most innovative modern metal bands out atm, so ots hard for me to see metal dying when you have some people out there doing some really cool shit. This discourse and argument is strange.
Re Sleep Token/Poppy/Popcorn metal: these kind of artists and bands are always needed as gateway bands for new people. Everyone who now listens to extreme or has explored the outer subgenres of metal had their own Popcorn metal band they hold dear to their hearts. People change and grow as does their taste, some people stay in the same places others dont. If you like your popcorn awesome, if you dont thats okay.
But if people are making it their entire identity or contributions to discussions is glazing or ripping on other peoples taste or bands: Shut the fuck up and grow up, its not that important.

@Ectier all I'm doing is defending my favorite subgenre of metal, djent. This position comes with the territory on this site. If I have to oppose the entire site to do it I do not care. I'm willing to remain steadfast on my point and an unwavering resolve to never yield.

you need to stop taking this shit so seriously, it's not healthy.
|
| |
Why do you feel the nees to defend it though? Djent is going to keep going no matter what some random dickhead on the site says. Its argueing for the sake of it and getting yourself psychologically wound up over nothing
|
| |
periphery told you djent isn't a genre bro
|
| |
I didn't even take a shot at djent in the first place lmao all I said is guitar music is solved. And because of the ambiguity of that phrasing (I'm not saying that doesn't mean there still can't be innovations but it's still remixing or kitbashing at this point) I did the planet analogy.

@Ectier Because it FASCINATES me how a subgenre of metal can be so collectively hated. I can understand the hate for like... crunkcore, but djent...? Its roots come from Meshuggah. It's often times metalcore with djent polyrhythmic technicality. Guitar tapping. Technical guitar musicianship. What's not to like. Not saying you should love it. But it's a laughing stock? I find this completely ridiculous. COMPLETELY.

Then why argue ask people to explain their side of things on why they dont like it. Stop being so hostile as well

There's the hostility right on queue. How can I have a civil conversation with someone like that?
|
| |
They are hostile because off all the shit you have stirred
|
| |
You can't have a civil conversation because you direct it to whatever point you want to make. Like right now. Is anybody shittalking djent right now? Sleep Token, sure, but that's a given.
|

You are arguing with a straw man you created lmao

They have anger management issues. I am just expressing my opinion on music. I'm never the one start to conversation with hostility, it always becomes that way quickly due to these immature individuals. They get offended by my opinion about music. Sounds like some mentally deranged shit on their end too. I don't even like being hostile towards people. This site is just completely hostile to any opinion that's not their own.
