In my opinion, the only advantage this has over the mantle is Fire Above, Ice Below. But then I'm pretty sure Shadow Of Our Pale Companion beats that song for me.

Agalloch is the perfect band for a cold winter day like today. Already listened to Pale Folklore and The Mantle today and now I'm listening to this. Definitely one of the best bands around today.

Yeah I'll probably give The Mantle a spin tonight when I drive to Boston.

Nice dude. I'm just going to sit around and listen to black metal all day because it's snowing and the roads are pretty impossible to drive on so I figure a day of black metal is good enough lol.

Yeah dude work backwards. This is probably the easiest Agalloch album to get into.

Well it's a combination of a few things. There's a mix of black metal, doom, folk metal, and even some post rock and ambient.

I can't believe I haven't listened to any Agalloch yet either. I'm gonna listening to this one later today.

This just isn't the traditional black metal sound. Like I said there's other genres mixed in.

The collective term for Agalloch is dark metal. It's much easier to say than blackened ambient folk doom, but even more pretentious.

But if you love this band, you'd also love In The Woods...

When I first heard this 3 years ago I thought this was really boring, I wouldn't say it's too easy to get into. Then again that was the time when I had just joined the site and my favorite bands were CoB, In Flames, Soilwork, etc.

Needless to say Agalloch is one of my favorite bands now.

Really nice to see that you enjoy this hitman. You definitely have to check out The Mantle and Pale Folklore too.
