I've never been the biggest fan of this band but they have some all timers imo just weird they went this route after having actually carved such a unique space for themselves multiple times. The biggest problem is the track listing here, that first track leaves such a bad impression imo. something between this and Colors II would have been the sweet spot for this more PROG "tm" direction.

agreed on the tracklisting.....opener is the worst song on the album.....electronic beginning to god terror is passable as well but the latter half of that song is pretty good.....absent thereafter and onward is a 4.5 for me

That’s what I don’t like about this. Whenever they go extremely prog, we end up with too much Tommy and he’s the worst member for me by far. He is talented but he can ruin good things as well a lot. They need more metal and more heavy to keep me interested otherwise it’s too cheesy even when the competence is there

idk these guys can pretty much do no wrong so long as they keep the tempos up and the harsh vox frequent enough. also just think this is unequivocally a step in the right direction for them after how comparatively sanitized the last few albums were (even if i'm still a fan of those).
