"I’m sad the consensus of this album is kinda crap"

This has a 4.1 average here currently and 3.80 on RYM with thousands of votes. How is that consensus crap?

Even Fantano, who has never particularly enjoyed Deftones, liked all the tracks that he heard from it. He's probably giving it a 6-7/10. The highest he has given them has been 6 for KNY thus far

Great album. Definitely a grower too.

Feels like Diamond Eyes in the sense that I prefer to listen to it front-to-back rather than any given individual track.

I was just thinking this is their best album since diamond eyes. It's insane how consistent they are for better or worse. This shit bangs.

It's really cool that almost any ranked ordering of their albums can be listed and not be incorrect. Their discography is expansive and encompassing to say the least.

I really like the album art for this album as well. My physical copy (CD) has a pink background instead of green, which I think is pretty sweet.

Yeah I’d say this has gotten a great reception so far, from critics and fans alike.

This reminds me of diamond eyes in the sense that it’s kind of a jack of all trades Deftones album, doing a little bit of everything they do well, while not necessarily experimenting or pushing the boundaries of their sound too much.

Album is a grower. Memorable riffs, lyricism is better than Ohms. Feels like a sequel to Diamond Eyes / Koi No Yokan.

Fromrows, we have the same top 4, but then mine trails off differently. Koi is prob 5 for me then PM (may end up swapping those though, can’t tell yet), then SNW, gore, ohms and lastly adrenaline.

DE >= KNY > SNW (minus Pink Cellphone) > pm > WP > Ohms >= ATF > Gore > S/T > Adrenaline

Although I'm not necessarily set in stone, other than my first couple and final few selections.

This and diamond eyes strike me as “crowd pleasers”, for lack of a better term. Nothing wrong with that. I wouldn’t necessarily want every album to be like that, but it’s good to have a varied discography (which Deftones definitely have).

Even though i think Diamond Eyes hit the mark perfectly between pleasing, bring heavy and pushing their sound just enough, where this just falls flat for me instead.
