I went on a TEAR with this album today! Somehow growing on me more and more. I'm so proud of them, as I really didn't think they still had it in them to make a banger.
@Feather Yes! This happened with a couple other moments on the album too that gave me deja vu, I'll pinpoint them soon I'm sure

The Continuum I-IV feels like a perfect marriage between the "Key Entity" and "Willing Well" suites. I don't think anything can top the Willing Well's for being the best run of Coheed songs though. I think it's because they have a certain energy and sense of urgency within something incredibly progressive and theatrical. The Continuum I-IV ticks the prog/theatre boxes, but I do miss the energy from the Willing Well's.
I love that only Coheed fans will understand what the hell I'm talking about lol.

The Flood is a top tier Claudio moment for real, one of my favorite tracks from them

@Nomos holy shit I cracked the code. The horn progression in The Flood that begins at 4:58 - 5:05, mirrors the vocal progression at 6:28 - 6:35 in Window the of the Waking Mind. Incredible.

I do like that Window of the Waking Mind has been sorta the basis for a lot of callbacks here.
Since that song is (I think) about Vaxis actually waking up, I'm assuming anything involving his perspective will pull from one of that song's million ideas lol

Loving this album! So many bangers. Continuum I-IV is perhaps the only part that still needs to grow on me - I'm not the biggest prog fan so probably prefer their more straightforward catchy/aggressive stuff earlier on the record

^ you will need to revisit this opinion. The continuum series has only continued to grow on me with II and III being the real exceptional pieces.

yessss Feather that's it! And obviously the last track makes me think of ELO or the Kinks or the Beatles or some shit but there's another track on here that makes me think of an 80's rock song and it's bugging me so much that I have the chorus melody in my head but I can't think of the lyrics to find a song.
Oh, it's Someone Who Can...when it's launching into the chorus, my brain tries to finish it's sentence with a...Bob Seger? Bon Jovi? song. It's bugging me so hard.

Someone Who Can is definitely reminiscent of Summer of 69

Searching For Tomorrow is one of the best on the album fs. Someone Who Can reps the bottom half of the album for me but closer to the top of said half

@Nomos, yes the pre-chorus of Someone Who Can certainly sounds like something else that I haven't been able to place my finger on. The song feels very bruce springstein to me...
@Odal yes it definitely has a summer of 69 sound! But the pre-chorus is just so spot on the same as something.

OMG....okay so I think it is a Bryan Adams song I'm thinking of? Or the voice is very similar. ChatGPT cannot recommend the right one to me. The chorus starts with "I can ___"......something. "I can still _____?" This is bugging me hard that I don't know the right lyric.
Anyway, yeah, it sounds like Bryan Adams, which is fun.

@Nomos I was trying to AI what the horn melody in the Flood was, no dice lol

@ Feather, I'll put you out of your misery with those.
- The pre-chorus reminds you of The Boys Of Summer. "Nobody on the roads...nobody on the beach".
- The horn section is the vocal melody of a part of 'Window Of The Waking Mind' from the last record.

^ @afterman yes sir, it randomly clicked a couple days ago and it was a huge relief. Nice call on the boys of summer!

Those moments are annoying until they click, glad you got some relief!
Can't get enough of Tethered Together and The Flood.
The flow and pacing here with the classic Coheed variety makes it a really palatable listen overall.
After a couple of solid weeks of listening, my ranking goes:
