I’ll give some leeway to the “pioneering” thing. Idk, I don’t know enough about this djenty style of poppish metalcore. They’re certainly not the first but they for sure are trailblazers. They’re headlining a venue near me that’s kinda massive (Knocked Loose just played it and I feel like they’re the hottest thing around rn) so I guess it surprised me at how popular they’ve gotten



But I mean… honestly call me an asshole or wrong or whatever, Spiritbox literally just feels like if after their debut Evanescence picked up some 8 string guitars and got someone who could do screamed vocals.



I’m saying that as someone who’s seen them live once (admittedly drunk as fuck) and has heard maybe like three songs in full aside from that so I’m totally firing from the hip but I don’t feel like I’m far off.

@Durrzo: i had to do a double take, i've known LMTF as far back as when they just had 2 albums out they are NOT in the same style of mxc as IA. Bro sounds like he discovered them like a month ago. LMTF predates IA by a year in formation date and 3 years with first full length. How can they be diet IA but also older??

As far as Spiritbox... I do kinda hear the Evanescence comp, but that's not really a bad thing? They feel like sorta if instead of pivoting more into more middling alt rock, took off right where they left off after their first 3 albums and adapted to better modern influences. Eternal Blue kinda feels like where they could've gone after Fallen in a different era.
