This isn’t hitting like the first two albums
Listened to some Tangerine Dream, Magma, Steve Hillage and Formulas to try and get in the mood for this. Will b back tho

Still haven't jammed an album from this band. Pretty good when I saw em open for Cannibal Corpse

It makes a lot of sense to pick up the band's releases chronologically (almost), i.e. start from Interdimensional Extinction

"if an album that is 60 minutes long feels like 30 minutes, that's a very good sign that it was carefully crafted"
true, but isn't this 43 minutes? lol

Liking this for the most part, but the production isn't really adding much to the heavy parts. Generally the calmer parts are much better fleshed out and much more interesting than the DM. Curious to see if they go full Pink Floyd, but with a name like Blood Incantation highly doubt it

I'm still leaning towards thinking this is kinda fun despite not feeling like all the elements mesh together seamlessly. The first two eclipse this handily and still have that epic feel whilst having a great balance between (better) riffing and proggy nonsense
idk it felt like they already had a formula that worked and in magnifying the prog they've lost some of what made them work for me. It doesn't sound as natural even if a few moments shine through regardless

"true, but isn't this 43 minutes? lol"
Sentiment remains the same. This album flies by (depending on if you like it or not). I listen to this album and I get the sense that these guys were dying to make something beyond spacey death metal. I think that's why the lion's share of the album is dedicated to expanded synths and PF-inspired prog breaks. There's so much artistic merit on this album that elevates them above other bands of their ilk. I don't care so much that they had to shed some of their OSDM sound to accomplish something superior to what they've done before.

I hate rim clicks on the drums for metal/rock music, idk why.

"idk it felt like they already had a formula that worked"
yeah and when a band continuously reuses that formula you get something like Amon Amarth or Arch Enemy- a continuous decline in novelty and freshness
Sick that BI could shift enough to put out another unique listening experience

"See Idk about that. Tomb mold is just as good imo. That's where I feel like these guys can be overrated when ppl start start saying other great bands don't compare to them that turns me off from this band. these guys aren't that much better than tomb mold nah Not me to anyway. Or worm, mortiferum and tons of others."
Yeah I've never really understood the hype this band gets, they're good but people treat them like they're the second coming. I'd actually put Tomb Mold a bit ahead of these guys.

I love the Stargate tracks but haven't given much attention to the Message. Hoping to have time to give it more time.
