screamo is the best genre and I won’t hear any arguments. It’s not a phase mom

I might give it a whirl. I see they’re a three piece from Illinois so they potentially have the credentials

@jay

Too true. I wish people that don’t know anything about metal/hardcore would just shut up any time it comes up. was blasting some Dillinger while doing stock one time and one of my bosses walked by and was like “I don’t know how you listen to that death metal shit”

not

everything

with

screams

is

death metal or screamo

But he’s also the kinda guy that has conservative politics and loves Rage Against the Machine but “just doesn’t really care about the lyrics.” so idk why I would expect any different

lol that’s the exact kind of shit

It’s really not a big deal and it’s kinda funny most of the time but in the moment I really just wanted to just take his ass to school musically

Finally got on this. Really good so far.

Am I crazy for feeling like this is sorta Protest the Hero + Older Deafhaven?

I will give another shot based on PtH and Deafheaven comparison alone. Listened to half a song the other day and didn't think it was for me.

The scremo vocals immediately turned me off as I'm used to a more "structured" and technical approach to harsh vocals.

Gave it a second chance though and I'm glad I did, this is beautiful.

This is spot on what just happened to me. Similar to how it took me a long time to get into Deafheaven because I wasn’t used to that sort of vocal. This is pretty sweet.

There's quite a lot of nuance to the guitars but the production is geared more in a sort of "camera shake" type way, which mostly works but makes it kinda hard to grab onto the sweet riffs.
