Diving into this at last. Love the review and cannot agree more with the first paragraph: sad, but no less true... I cannot help but feel a bit of the old excitement when listening to every next thing they do. It's easy to spot all the flaws but just as easy to embrace the greater part of it at the same time. But man, the song length.

This album doesn't have a song of the caliber of either All Nightmare Long or Spit out the Bone, but it has many solid to really good songs. The harmonizing guitars at the end of Room of Mirrors is probably my favorite section here.

>Look you're saying this guy, the critic, he's supposed to talk about the music, right? But what does he do in this review? He goes on defending Metallica and talking about his own nostalgia. It's ridiculous, folks. I mean, come on, stick to the music, right? That's what we want to hear about. These critics, they always try to make it personal, attacking or defending the artists. It's not about that, it's about the music. Believe me, I know a lot about music. I have the best music, people tell me all the time. So, let's stick to the music, okay? That's what people want to hear about.

>Great writer Voivod, yeigh indeed! And so does it not follow that the unprejudiced "exists to talk about the music not to attack or defend the artists on a personal level" portal of purpose suggested in the last comment is an illusion or delusion of great plight?

Comparing the solos on MoP to the 72 Seasons singles, I'm convinced they wiped them up at the last minute after watching a Herman Lee video
