Album cover of the new one really does not look like Haken. Finally found the singles, for some reason Tidal now has two different artists called Haken (they are the same)... Streaming is stupid man

New singles are not that bad indeed but feel a bit too streamlined without the usual quirkiness? I'm fine with them switching it up a bit though, sad that the production on the drums indeed makes them sound a bit computery...

I like the mature sound way more of the new singles. But I feel like I've outgrown this band. Still hope the rest of the record slaps!

Edit: I only outgrew Fauna I think.

The single they just dropped is just okay to me.

Yeah they are okay-ish, but in my opinion the two singles are better than anything of off Fauna. Listening to this record after two year is actually pretty bad, which is a shame because I remember really liking this on release.

I never revisit this except for Nightingale and Alphabet of Me. These are tunes!

These single releases remind me of what they did with Virus: very safe, "normal" songs that save the weirdness for the full album release. I love these guys so I'm gonna stay optimistic and wait for the whole thing to come out to put these tracks into context.

Also, minor pet peeve: why is it that every band these days saw Deftones make an album with all of the track names lowercase and thought, "Man, that is the shit right there, we gotta do that"? It's not necessary, it doesn't add any special flair to the titles, and it just bugs me lol

i don't come back to this as much as i should but it's always great when i do!

haven't checked the new ones...idk, not seeing any aesthetic associated with them doesn't hype me up so i'll wait for the album i guess?

new singles have been pretty flat me. its clear they are compensating for the lack of second guitar and proper bassist with some attempts at mixing up the vocals, but the distortion on Ross's vocals (and the screams on the first single) are not particularly pleasant to listen to, and the production on both tracks feels really thin. IDK I have a bad feeling about whatever the next album is, I think losing those 2 members is gonna have a real impact on their sound and approach for this one

Yeah the production just takes me out of it on the new singles. Unfortunate. Band might have peaked.
