World Of Violence demos are great as well, as is the Finch EP. Pretty much everything they made was spectacular except WIITB, which I still think is a mediocre album. I think the band thought the same which is why they progressed quickly in such an interesting manner.

The only 180 I've ever taken on a band harder than this was when I heard The Devil and God for the first time. I was legit angry that I had to admit Brand New had gotten good.

WIITB was good on its own term, and it did best what it could do: make great singalong songs. Its poppy nature wasn't too obnoxious, or maybe it's just that I've grown too used to it by now that I can't really tell anyways.
Worms of the Earth was pretty much indicative of what direction they were going to take with their second album.
Still, SHTS is a far better album than WIITB, and it still stands as the most cohesive and the best album they've put out. It's been six years since I've first heard this album and I still listen to this on weekly basis. Kinda disappointed with how they played it safe with Back To Oblivion, though.

BTO was so disappointing, but considering the constant tug-of-war within concerning the band's musical direction, not very surprising that they played it overly safe.

BTO was so heartbreakingly safe, at least their alternate record Phantasma was made around the say time and felt like a way more organic album. Feels like they could definitely cash in with a documentary since it sounds like some major internal conflicts derailed the band.

Back to Oblivion was like the band trying to compromise with each other. Its a solid album but only just above WIITB. Anywhere But Here, Two Guns To the Temple, and Play Dead are pretty damn great tracks tho.

BTO has Picasso Trigger & Further From The Few which are both really good songs. Cant say anything positive bout the rest of the album tho sadly. Its not even bad, just pretty tame and forgettable.

Still rules. Such a crying shame that the drummer didn't end up in another great band. His performance on this one is 11/10

Every time I hear a song off this I either have to play it back like 3 more times or just say fuck it and play the whole album. A true classic.
