Yeah mate. I'm one of the biggest Megadeth fans on this site but this one did not hit the spot for me

12. We'll Be Back
You can toss the rest

Mission to Mars is pretty fun. I wish Dave can do more of that instead of the 482th song about "fuck you dude, you're such a bad person and I don't like you"

I like Mission to Mars a far bit, but its so corny I don't like to admit it. The skit at the end is real well done imo.

This album is just a fart in the desert. If another less famous band had released this, the overall rating would be lower.

It’s just boring, and the production is thin. Lazy lyrics and most of the songs sound the same. This is definitely one of Megadeth’s weakest.

this was less frustrating than 72 seasons. still prob weaker end of megadeth

I def prefer 72S to this. That one isn't special either by any means, but there are stronger songs than this. They both kinda suffer from the same problems but 72s has better production, and a much better vocalist lol

72S really annoyed me because apart from James' lyrics still having some bite to it, i felt it was some of the most paint-by-numbers, unimaginative music of their entire career (didn't help that it was close to 80 minutes long), but i'm someone who'd say st. anger is their most interesting album of the 21st century so that may just be me. when their highlight is a song that sounds like a rejected cut from my least favorite 80's era album of their career, that's not a good sign.
that being said, i would also put risk over most post-reunion megadeth too.

Didn't understand the hate for this. Album is just consistently good
Plus Mission to Mars

That's not the worst place to stop. Youthanasia is a special album. The later ones are all hit or miss.

"mission to mars" is the best song here IMO. that and "we'll be back" are the only two songs I can readily defend.
and youthanasia is great. whether it was "selling out" or not, dave did a really good job writing more simplistic, hook-driven hard rock. i agree with meridiu5 that everything else is viewer discretion, but endgame is TOP TIER
|
| |
thanks fellas. and yeah youthansia is a commercial thrash metal album but probably about as best as you can do it. dave sounds his best on there. addicted to chaos and a tout le londe are some of their best. i prefer it to countdown by a bit.

We'll Be Back absolutely slaps, especially the ending. Rest of this ranges from decent to meh/boring

endgame honestly never really worked for me past like...the right to go insane and the hardest part of letting go?
