Not sure it's productive for metal websites to be assigning this a score. The band was transparent about what the album was going to be, so I don't really see any purpose in people who, by their own admission, have little to no background with this style of music slapping a 2 or 2.5 on it.

Try a tapenade olive oil base. Add light sprinkles of thin red chilli slices to your toppings alongside some gourmet cherry tomatoes

I'm not saying they shouldn't discuss it - I just don't think it's productive for them to assign it a rating. What does the average metal blogger know about the ambient scene or the conventions of the genre? How can they hope to effectively evaluate it against albums they have never heard?
In a sense, I'm projecting - even as someone who likes a lot of synthy stuff, I have never had much of an interest in ambient music and don't see how I could justify assigning a rating to an album like this. I know nothing about the genre and never listen to it. Who am I to say whether it's good or not?

I was honestly expecting a little more than just a single variation of a single theme across two 20 minute tracks..., Like really? It seemed like half of the "movements" of both tracks were identical. Okay then. Trying out the bonus one now. But honestly, I've done identical stuff on my computer like 7 years ago with my own songs. I really don't know why they thought this was material at all strong enough for a third full length album. This is EP material at best. I hate to say it, but the talk behind this by some of the band is seeming entirely pretentious for it's own good, and I really don't apply that term much to artists in general.

Sure, since you'll never hear it I'm sure you know better lol absolutely.
These are soundscapes everybody fucks with at some point when diddling on the computer. The bonus track was the most resemblant of my stuff at the time and it was sillily close at some points. Just saying, for me I was getting flashbacks. A one word response to my critique about a personal experience while you clutch a hard five is just trash man. But it's cool, it's the internet so be that as it may.

I think the band last minute changed this to an EP release, they definitely got cold feet right before the finish line
