I'll give this one a shot today. Excited for the sheer amount of all these news releases.

Unless I should hear the debut first? I'm 100% out of the loop with these dudes.

I’m serious, this might be the best thing I’ve heard in my life. I can’t stop listening. Not understanding the negativity here. It’s blown everyone else away

Is it just pure popularity pissing people off? I don't think this could be bad enough to warrant a 1 but I guess I'll make that judgement when I reach that point.

New Persefone and new Rolo gonna take up most of my time this morning but I'll get around to this soon enough. Work got canceled again due to winter storm warnings.

More impressive than the debut and less unappealing...still not getting the point of them 100% though

They're moving in the right direction...where Black Midi are moving in the wrong direction. So that's something,

tbqh i do not get it at all with this, so i guess so??? i can identify a lot with the antihype over this band last year and found the rym circjerc over this whole scene kinda debasing to watch, but this record is so much more candid and delicate and forthcoming and organic and generally easy to love than anything else i've heard from that whole smelly ballpark. can someone please write an eloquent counterreview so i can try to understand this?

Johnny I can kind of hear that - but then the Black Midi debut I understood why it needed to exist and I still don't really understand why this album needs to exist. There still seems a 'going through the accepted motions' dispiriting thing about these dudes

Technical chops yes yes yes no why?

This is way more enjoyable than the debut, agreed with the folks on this page.

i don't really get a technical chops feel from this at all - feels much more emotionally driven, and the songwriting is more geared towards simple dynamics and strong melodies/counterpoint than anything particularly flashy?
midi debut had its moments, but jfc that opener epitomised 99% of everything wrong with the techy approach (cavalcade revived that plus the remaining 1%)

We are paging Colton right this minute to draft the antihype thesis, please stand by. Storm initially showed interest, but someone put "New Emery" on the bottom of a pool and we haven't seen him since.

@Pika: I enjoyed it more than the follow-up, or the debut from these guys.

I will check this in due course.
