cleans are fine song rules [2]

New songs would be better without cleans or at least with better cleans.

It’s not that the cleans are bad, they’re just unnecessary to me. This band doesn’t really need clean vocals anywhere imo

The cleans aren't amazing but they're not bad.

Love the two singles so far. Cleans help break up the monotony of the harsh vocals. I get immense ear fatigue from this band because of the vocals. I also think they've incorporated way more breaks and interludes into their songs. Definitely reaching for a more melodic vibe. Get Soilwork vibes from the approach.

This dude is literally one of the most versatile vocalists out there lol I don’t know how you can find his screams fatiguing

Yeah, he is pretty fucking good.

New singles are extremely promising, the breakdown in Savior of None/Ashes of All gives me some classic All Shall Perish vibes. Seconded that the vocalist is one of the best in the game right now

Getting pretty hyped for this album. More melody is always a win with me. Cleans are still whatever but the rest of the new song is awesome.

I'm looking forward to their newest, I must admit.
All of their releases are great so far.

It's not a criticism of his talent but that, anecdotally, his harsh vocals have more impact on me than other vocalists. Idk why, but it makes me appreciate their approach to this album if these two songs are anything to go by.

everyone needs to go back and listen to Absolute Hope again. Fucking crime against humanity that that thread only has 2 pages

Got home and listened to the new track again and decided I really don't like the way the cleans are used on it. Still an overall banger but they feel out of place. Going high is the misfire, this band needs something lower, preferably with some grit in it. I have no problem with cleans in general, but the way they're going about it clashes with the rest of their sound imo.

Love the two new singles and generally love the cleans - think they are largely a good fit. I'm just wary of the band using them sparingly and not on every song going forward, whether they fit or not. It's a slippery slope many great bands have fallen down.

They did the same exact cleans throughout Tragic Beasts so as long as it isn't the forefront I think it will be okay

Yup, this is exactly my issue. It feels like AILD where they're extremely high pitched and it doesn't mesh at all with what they're going for.

I can see gripes with the high pitched aspect of the newer song, but in my opinion it encapsulates the theme of the song. Both new singles are awesome
