Tbh they've always only ever really done like two or three guitar solos per album... but hilariously all the songs they seem to be most known for have epic guitar solos
Think Blake and especially Dan easily make up for the lack of a White Walls type guitar solo here

Idk man I loved Colors the First immediately but this just fell kinda flat
What happened to all the epic recurring motifs and such from the original? It's cohesion and theatrics were what made it such a great record in the first place. from what I picked up there was like none of that here

Double Helix is pretty much a straight up homage to Foam Born (B) and Informal Gluttony, that's for sure.

This really is their best in around a decade. Go figure people are still making the same grievances since the original Colors.

And I love Sfumato, those guitar licks are awesome, and it reminds me of Chris DeGarmo's style. Will never understand the folks who rip it, it's a minute long lol...

I think people focus too hard on making sense of the music instead of just letting the music sweep them along for the ride. I'm not sure if this album would count as easy listening but its so easy to listen to and it undoubtedly btbam performing to their best. This isn't just a part 2 for the sake of it, but rather a great culmination of the sound they've fostered since the original. My guess as to the wait between two albums is maybe wanting to have a worthy successor that would have a greater impact if it came just a year after the original.

I'm on another listen of this and can confirm it still, in fact, rules.
Not gonna rate it a 5 quite yet, but it's knocking on the door.
The amount of callbacks this things while making them sound fresh is insane. Also, they continue to do a good job of sounding more and more fun without ever feeling gimmicky. Even the air horn. I really don't get how someone can not love this if they are into this kind of music.

The people that think a middle score = hate kind of weird me out. If 2.5 is a hate what is a 1? Rape and murder, dramatic much?

We all know a 2.5 is basically a shitty album on this site. Even a 3 won't get much playback.

At first I was let down there wasnt a massive guitar solo at the end if Human Is Hell but now I kind of applaud them for not giving in to what was expected and decided to do something different, the ending is really good and satisfying to me now, very chanty etc. The song all around has an insane amount of hooky earworms in it, as does the rest of the album.
