PAST WHERE THEY PAINT THE HOUSES

Album Rating: 4.5
If I could surmise, not knowing really what they are, maybe tiny units of memory or inspiration. Like “tiny houses of knowledge “ or “tiny houses of ideas” more so. Or it could literally be a reference to their small apartment /house lol

tiny lil monopoly houses. sweet trip loves that board game!

Or maybe a reference to the world we live in at large being a tiny house, since that’s a decent analogy for how simultaneously close and distant we’ve become

i'm going to assume you made that up, but i also love it as a made-up answer so yayay question solved

i can try to find the interview. it’s the one where they’re both super high and using a backscratcher on each other throughout the interview and valerie is wearing a weird reflective vest of some kind lookin like a crossing guard
literally couple goals man.

Can someone explain to my why people who play guitar have decided to revive shoegaze/dream pop and embrace dumb retro shit like Weezer in an era filled with violence, economic inequality, and abortion bans? The guitar pedal industrial complex is not the sound of the revolution

I mean it really took off during Trump and also is contemporaneous with the legalization of cannabis - a weird escapist mix maybe - but is it meaningful cultural production? To me at best even the innovative shoegaze type music is barely tolerable as background music.

Cmon Johnny the world we live in isn’t bad at all. With time, it gets better and better imo. In my neck of the woods I don’t see much besides the trees, sky, and birds singing praises each morning. Life is pretty grand overall. But Weezer does suck

And keep in mind that’s coming from a relatively poor person who can barely rub two cents together for rent every week. But life isn’t about any of that stuff and you sould never worry about such evil stuff, you won’t care about it on your deathbed at all. it’s about feeling and finding connection with your true self Sweet Trip has that vibe for sure

they got absolutely roasted for multiple days after this. they also said
“ What I've learned today: a bunch of assholes really like the music I dislike and misunderstand the question I'm asking: why are people who play guitar focused on performative introversion, abstract soundscapes, and banal formalism while there are literal fascists on the streets?”

'why are people who play guitar focused on performative introversion, abstract soundscapes, and banal formalism while there are literal fascists on the streets?'
what a weird quote, lol. Idk whoever 'Bikini Kill' are but first judgement has been passed. Also a noticeably silly name for such an obviously important and serious band taking the fight to fascism.

lol that quote is beyond hilarious
