"hey onion, what is it that makes you love Erra?"
as far as the og lineup goes (which is my favorite lineup any band has ever held), garrison's screams are unmatched in their level of power and beefiness, both guitarists are outstanding and complement each other's writing styles tremendously, and the production does an exceptional job making all of that shine through as well as deepening the overall atmosphere with keys, synths, harps and mallets (albeit midi but still). on top of all that, jesse's my favorite clean singer in the genre and his melodies are incredible and inject their music with the perfect amount of melody to balance it
new record does not reach that unreachable bar as jt will never be garrison and the like 4 songs alan would get on the old albums helped balance out jesse's chuggy writing a bit better, but it comes way fuckin closer than i thought it ever could which is a big enough victory for me. it's way heavier than anything else post augment, finally assisted by a proper production job to make jesse's crushing riffs rain down like mf artillery (which are also better than they've been post augment), but balanced out by some of his catchiest and funnest hooks that haven't left my head since release date. sequencing/flow is also impeccable i love the journey it takes me on and how smoothly it cycles through different vibes

"Z1 has some EPIC moments, but Jeremy's singing style has matured since then. It gets a little too whiny when I listen to the older stuff.
"
This SO much. I hate how whiny it gets especially cause it's an EP about fucking zombies. Stop howling like your gf left you.

Maybe his gf left and turned into a zombie you heartless bastard!

survivor alone puts z1 jeremy above z2 jeremy. cant say i prefer the more minimal melodies here over the more dynamic shit he's doing on the og. that said, ive never been one bothered by "whiny" vocals so

Contagion is probably my least favorite singing part that Jeremy has ever done. It's so out of place and just doesn't sound great. Rest of the song slaps though.

its a solid melody that sounds strained w his modern voice. woulda fit better w his older styling
worst jeremy vocal performance is easily modeify the pronunciation (if that's him singing it's so damn out of key lol)

Jeremy does sound kinda bored on here. His cleans on The Act were way better.
