"Sowing is a bit of a big deal around here." not if he ignores my dedicated metal recs he's not!
"Mleccha oozes apc/the contortionist (clairvoyant) vibes. I’m with ya." Glad to know someone reads and got the balls to come to the front with it XD

He'll be done with those metal recs when the sun engulfs the earth

I personally find the production to be fairly flat, I don't think it is doing the riffs justice. For example the 2 minute mark on Omega Severer should sound absolutely huge. The album definitely sounding good to me though, although I'm having to adjust my expectations after it has become a 'Sput darling', see also Palm Reader and Rolo Tomassi

YES. There’s so many instances of audibly great stuff happening that I feel like I’m straining to pick up when it should just blast my face off. See also the 4m mark of Towers where those keys should just be slicing right through that monster riff. It doesn’t sound bad but I’ve heard enough metal like this to know it could sound better.

Gonna *tentatively* suggest a counterpoint - would defs prefer less polished/dynamic smothering production and a bit more grit, but I don't think the riffs here are that original or impressive. The band's performance is great and packs more than enough intensity to carry this, but I think their writing is on the inoffensive edge of melodic in a way that's kinda impressive track to track but p lackluster across the album flow. I remember Si being a huge highlight on first jam, but now when that opening riff comes on I'm less floored by its pacing and a little underwhelmed that I'm not listening to something for similar effect with more punch (am thinking Deconstructing Towers here)
Will probs revise this take, but yeah that's vaguely why this is good but not all that ig?

shit, I really love SI, listen upon listen.
A Johnny 3.5 is still a legit rate I can live with lol. Check Asheran, maybe you figure some shit out, yet we never know with you and your IQ (very high of course X))

man, that's what i love about music, I think the production on here is top notch and would kill to have an album sound this good, but on the other hand people are like, meh kinda sucks. I mentioned it earlier there is a lot going on in the mix at certain parts, you have full band with vocals, drums, bass, guitars hard panned, floaty riff on top of that, with floaty keys on top of that, good luck to the average engineer making that fit as good as this. Also, the rhythm section is money, that bass tone with the drums is so sick, but again, opinions.

It’s a grower alright. This album has lots of interesting twists and turns. Still not as great as Asheran though.

and specially this production lol it's not like you're listening to latest Baroness, I guess...

This sounds more like early Baroness at times than Baroness themselves right now.

I thought the prod on this was kinda flat too, until I spun it with my really good cans.
Prod is actually ace.

I think the lesson here is that production quality is a subjective assessment. Everyone's coming from a different vantage point.
Edit. Unless we're talking about current day Baroness. There is a correct objective opinion and no room for dispute.

Yeah it's a shame. I think their honestly are some great songs hidden behind that mess on Gold & Grey.

Production is massively important. I'm still waiting for a remaster of Miss Machine, album is almost ruined by the tinny sound.
