just someone who can comfortably sing below middle C more than a token number of times on an album

He got a looot of praise early on when he was objectively worse at being the lead so I'd say it just caught up to him. Diversity was always this bands strong suite. They've had the same line up for 5 albums now.

Like I said, I originally started listening to DGD Instrumentals, so honestly my full judgement is still reserved. But I will say some their of lyrics are painfully bad/bad pop bad. But not all, Prisoner has one the coolest lines ever.
