It’s an excellent album. It pales in comparison a bit to their later, more complex/epic music, but when this album came out, it blew people’s minds and was quite innovative at the time.

Nice! Very curious where they came from anyway. Maybe I even prefer a little more stripped back Tool to the newer ones, who knows!

Very possible! It’s definitely a more distilled, straightforward sound (and not in a bad, simple kindof way).

Vocals on Opiate EP are simply incredible, even on live songs. I've never paid enough attention to it. Which is weird, when compared to vocal performance/mix here.

Yeah I only really care to hear the live songs on Opiate actually. Substantially more enjoyable than the studio tracks.

Yeah prob with some time with that one I ll figure that out, its pretty straight forward. Though it was part of their process to reach future releases, I kinda wish some of those production/performance choices were made here...which has obviously better songs. Every time Maynard screams here has this "fade in fade out echo" and I find it sometimes unnecessary.

Unconventional opinion: I really enjoy the raw, honest production of this album (for being 1993 anyway).
