Next of Kin, Garroter and All Things Must Pass are probably my favorites right now. I'm also really digging Charlatan all things considered, it has some really catchy vocals over the dj0nt.

I wish Garroter's playing was a bit looser though, I expected something closer to Heritage for that one.

Not really feeling Lovelorn Crime tbh solo aside.

Dude the piano melodies and vocal refrains are just right in the feels, dunno I just really clicked with that one.

Next of Kin, Universal Truth and he closer have some beautiful moments too.

"Opeth have always been somewhat silly; who would think to combine Death-metal with acoustic guitars."

Opeth definitely weren't the first to do this. The first to do it to the extent that they did though for sure. Black metal bands were already doing it quite a bit in the early 90s

''it’s surprisingly ambitious, varied and experimental'' Exactly.

Love Lovelorn Crime the most here, but that's after two spins. The last one was my least fave.

''I think this needs multiple listens'' very true. It's a complex record (thank god!).

My point was rather facetious, although one can be silly and unoriginal at the same time. Combining those to elements remain superficially strange, although it can work wonders.

Amazing. They finally tweaked their own prog sound to perfection.
Production is amazing.

Listenin' with a twinkle in my eye

Yeah production is great here, this is how Sorceress should have sounded.

Bout to check this out. Which version should I go with, the Swedish, English or both?

“I'm sorry, this piece of crap is some pretentious bullshit pop music that Justin Bieber should have put out. Change the band name for god's sake and let Opeth retire with some dignity. This is fucking painful to listen to.“

Downloading the swedish version. Maybe not knowing what he's saying will make this better?

About to jam this. As long as it's better than Heritage and Pale Communion I'll be happy.

And why do you guys like Minnets Yta so much? It sounds like a bad Ghost ballad.
