Salvations just an example. On sput I never stop hearing, x new album can’t come close to y album from the early 00s. Which is a function of the age of this website and the age of the early influential members and staffers and how they kind of set the taste trajectory.. You talk to people with an average age (or source of preference) 5 years earlier or later and you get totally different rating hierarchies.

That's just an artefact of the kind of age when this site was more relevant though. I wonder whether that's something related to the actual age of people or the development of a band. Because the cycle of nostalgia seems to repeat with most bands in the past and in the present - debuts are favoured, follow ups are rarely treated as good etc.
