"Their self-titled album is everything that Iowa fails to be."

nah m8, iowa is easily the best thing they've ever done. some of the stuff on their s/t hasn't aged well.

sometimes I find myself wondering whether I like Slipknot because I just, always have - or if I like them because I truly believe them to be worth listening to

I did not expect a good Slipknot album in 2019 but here we are. Imo this is probably their weirdest album and for that I give it hard respect.

@jeet I pray we do not cross paths or I will use the might of god and anime on ur ass

This is not Slipknot. Too many boring mid-tempo songs and pointless electronics. Hard pass for me.

Dunno, I feel like Root and Thomson finally pulled out more than a handful of RIFFS again

Goddamn. I had pretty low expectations but this one kocked me down on my ass. Not only is their best since Vol 3, but right now I feel it is the best album they wrote (head-to-head with their debut). Absolute monster riffs but also well-balanced songwriting, great production, the whole album is intense as fuck like how a Slipknot album should be.

2nd listen wasnt as good as the first, but still going with a 3.5. Substantially better than what I expected this to be originally. m/

Iowa is their peak, yeah. I can’t see them ever matching that intensity again, which is why I was skeptical of this album going in. I think this is more on par with Vol. 3. It might surpass it with a few more listens, but it’ll be tough since Vol. 3 has the nostalgia advantage.

This might be bumping up to a 4.5 for me. The only song that I'm not loving at this point is Red Flag even though the song is pretty awesome, just isn't standing out on my subsequent listens like the others are.

Guys... I was done with Slipknot. Talked so much crap about them the passed couple albums...

I'm bumping this to 4. Haven't stopped listening all weekend.
