Avril tried to be some fun spunky punk girl who can rock just like the boys can while Billie is going for a more bleak and pseudo-goth look at how emotional I am type of look. Yes their aesthetics come from a similar place but its barely enough ground to compare the two.

In that song “what do you bla bla bla, where do you bla bla bla, when do you bla bla bla” I think it’s the single. Those melodies are pretty good. But those minimalist verses with the scary noises and shit... super lame

She has weird eyebrows that I just wanna shave thought I’d throw that out there.

Second half redeems this, for me, although 'Bad Guy' is weirdly catchy. Lorde comparisons seem inevitable, but I wonder how much the xx's self-titled debut album influenced her?



I know she's just a teen, but this quote regarding her image cracked me up:

Agreed wholeheartedly, Slice. And that's simply because they are both products of different times. Obviously the output of that is going to be drastically different, but I just believe they're coming from the same place, and they're largely doing the same thing, just in two different musical eras.

Not even saying its a bad thing, as this has its own merits musically and so did Lavigne in her early releases.
