That does sound like it should be the other way around ye. My band opened for Geoff Tate's a couple of times the past months. Major respect to the man and he's a very nice guy, but its sad to see that his voice really isn't up to snuff to sing these songs anymore.

Yeah that's true. But its been growing pretty slowly for Fates. Ryche has started to gain fans again over the past few years
In terms of a fanbase size/attention comparison between the 3 I feel the ratio is:
60% DT, 25% Queensryche, 15% Fates.
