Yeah I love this band to pieces but I have no idea what they're doing with any of their stories
Like I was reading somewhere that apparently Lost Perfection, Prequel to a Sequel, and Swim to the Moon, and even one of the Coma Ecliptic songs all connect to the Parallax story somehow

Seeing the proverbial bellow and voice of trespass live definitely helped this grow on me a lot. The pit was hilarious looking for voice of trespass.

I didn't know these songs told any story tbh. That's weird, but idc enough to try to solve this puzzle.
This is still the better one off the Automatas. Proverbial Bellow and Voice of Trespass rule and every moment feels earned. Can't really tell why some stuff on Automata I feels so ... irrelevant? Or sterile? Maybe it's the clean vox, I'm not too crazy about them

I think it's production combined with relatively bad vocals. Seems very lifeless/boring in places, while it might be super interesting to hear in a live setting

A live album of the automatas might be a good idea actually. I'd listen to that. I heared people say the live version of Coma Ecliptic was superior as well

Live anything from this band is an elevating experience

Btbam did themselves such a disservice by breaking up I and II. This is so clearly one album cut in half. I think the ratings would be higher if it was one album too.

I think it was great that they did it like this. It gave us something more to look forward to after I was released. Plus, I do listen to these separately most of the time.
I definitely don't prefer 90 minute albums, at least the ones that are released nowadays.

Sumerian just wanted me to buy 2 vinyl instead of 1.

Yeah pretty much this. The wait and anticipation was kind of cool but it was definitely intended as one whole album that they later decided to split. Maybe Sumerian's idea? Who knows.

@Titan I enjoyed the anticipation for II as well, but at this point listening to only I or II feels like a truncated experience. I+II is 72 minutes. That's totally on brand for a BtBam full-length. Parallax II is 73 minutes long.

Money grabbing tactic, still kind of taken aback that btbam agreed to go through with it, I thought they were better than that

Can we do the right thing for them and combine it as one for the sputnik database?

Gonna listen to it as one record, never did that before. Kinda feels like it would drag

Don't really have a problem with them splitting the two records

As a whole it is one of their most eclectic albums. For me, that aspect is minimized when you only digest it in half bits. It's clearly a personal taste thing (as everything is when it comes to art). I will on occasion just listen to Condemned to the Gallows by itself, as that is a mega banger of the highest order.
