"This record is a corny combination of potpourri pastiche just lazily slapped together and expecting the audience to just drool over it because 'Woah! What a bunch of weird quirky stuff we've never heard on the same track before.'"
I like how he somehow manages to sum up their whole discography this succinctly.

The idea that Roads To Judah or Sunbather are merely a pastiche is a fucking tryhard joke, and even Anthony doesn't agree with that. The discrete stylistic elements in this record do feel less integrated than they did in past, but I completely disagree the band is lazily or insincerely presenting us with gimmicks; I definitely don't think this album is their strongest, but I think the idea this record is merely a cynical attempt at snowflaking is a trying assertion.

When you actually consider many of the other albums in black metal that have attempted albums that bend and infuse genres with more consistently imaginative methods, it's absurdly cynical.

Your use of the term discrete is ridiculous considering that there is nothing deft to their execution.

"When You actually consider" lmao chill. You need to get Your head screwed on, cause Your epistemology is fucked. The record is not "cynical" cause You were able to deduce that other comparative samples have achieved the alleged goal that You are superimposing onto the band. The album is not "cynical", because Your assertion is that if one reflects on the history of music *from this standpoint* one can determine that this somehow reflects the motives of the band members and their intended goals and writing process. You don't know jack shit about the band's motives or process. You're extrapolating from the position of a listener, not a musician in the studio. You think the band sat around ruminating on the "many other albums in black metal" that "bend and infuse genres" while writing this!? "GOD, IF ONLY WE WE COULD WRITE TEETHED GLORY AND INJURY!" (inb4 You say that album is trash too)
Bands are (shockingly) comprised of human beings. Most human beings are not as metacognitive about their own creative process. People typically produce what they enjoy producing. I very strongly doubt the band did much more than write the kind of music they wanted to write, and the kind they enjoy performing in a live setting. Everything You said was pure conjecture. Hell, it might actually be the case that the band (be it conscious or subconscious) is exactly how you portray them, but - "This band's efforts were done cynically because I was able to compare and determine something irrelevant to the bands efforts or known motives" - your reasoning is ass.
