Raising this to a (very light) 3.5 for the time being, "Shadow Boxing" and "The Colour of Leaving" rule as well as "Wishing Wells", but "I Hope You Rot", "The Void", and "Prey" just don't do anything for me. Never mind that to my ears, this album's production is only a hair less artificial than it would be in the hands of someone like Kevin Churko, so that's not something I'll give glowing marks to them on.

Shadow Boxing is in my top 5 from this album, haven't heard anything from these guys as emotionally substantial since... probably Blue and the Grey.

Blue and Grey's lyrics are cringe as fuck so that ruins its chances of being very emotionally substantial, but musically its pretty good.

There's some lines on that track that don't necessarily work too well, but I wouldn't call it cringe. Then again, I have a higher tolerance for those types of lyrics than 90% of Sputnik seems to be.

Again, my tolerance is like 1000x higher than the average Sputnik user, so take it with a grain of salt.

Maybe it's just how many times that ad for "Prey" interrupted other albums I was listening to when Reverence was about to drop that really soured the production there for me.
