it only clicks with folks who think there's inherent merit in writing a +7 min long song.

'it must be good! it took so long to get through!'

This might be my favorite Fleet Foxes album, the more I listen to it

On Another Ocean, Third of May, Naiads are top three for me

Cool, say you don't like it and move the fuck on so people who do can talk about it without you butting your head in telling people they're naive for doing so

Bumped this to a 4.5 - totally fallen for it in my two listens today. Top 5 of the year so far.

Week off from spinning it worked wonders.

i suppose i can't really see how this is 'ambitious' or even a shift in sound, it comes across as middle of the road to me

I mean I can see how one could find this meandering instead of structurally ambitious, I guess it's in the eye of the beholder. That said the sounds are all pretty beautiful across the board.

this intense level of analysis can only be done by someone who barely listened to this thing. which seems to be true enough.

This is so, so, so good. And I didn't particularly care for their other records. Third of May is wonderful.

I like this more than Helplessness Blues, and it didn't start that way. Over time I've found this to be more elaborately composed, imaginative, and free-flowing. I went back and listened to HB the other day to compare, and it felt like a noticeable step down. And I can't believe I'm saying that, because HB was always one of my all-time favorite records.

Sooo... for someone who has never really been into this dreamy type of indie (Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear, Beach House etc), should I check this out? I was planning on ignoring it but it's been kind of hard considering the positive stuff I keep reading everywhere.

I mean this sounds approximately 0% like Beach House and I certainly wouldn't call this "dreamy indie" so idk what you think this is but yes you should check it out.

Still can't get into this. Putting it away indefinitely now. Pretty disappointed as this was just about my most anticipated album this year
