Immediately five minutes ago yes
literally every chord/melody/stylistic choice I've heard so far is entirely in keeping with the character of everything else this band has done and it's cute that the glitch is back

Start with Halica tbh (their second best) and get the full journey

Halica bookends are both probably top 5 Sweet Trip songs, and the rest has atmosphere for days mmm

yes
I'm not getting anything special from it

no
Seems like it's trying to be gorgeous

yes
but it's not happening naturally

no

no
Maybe I'm way off

yes
only about 25 mins in

no
just seems like a nice 3/3.5 or so

no
Probably needs more time.

I dig the hell out of Velocity, this one I was lukewarm-ish to (at least in comparison), perhaps I need to check again.

The new one seems very solid indeed.

Its basically enhanced this.. taking some of the atmosphere bliss outs from Halica and glitch/IDM from VDC.

basically a culmination album.. I like it more than this initially.. but thats bc my favorite Sweet Trip is the IDM/glitchy side.. they write some great songs regardless.. only regret from the new one is that they went further back to VDC.. but thats minor.

[2] to all of that. There weren't any tracks that matched the instant appeal of the highlights on this, but the glitch/IDM sound suits them so much better and I think there was less stodge than on here? So slightly better overall, gg

Highlights on here are so great.. I was initially put off because the complete removal of the glitch/IDM.. but the songwriting so so dam good and the songs slowly creep into your head and stay.

Tiny Houses and Chapters are instant top ST songs for me on the early listens.. the more atmospheric stuff of course will take longer to parse.
