Can't believe how bad this is. Disappointed my already extremely low expectations.
These two used to be good, now they are just pandering to Bernie Sanders supporting hipsters with Hitler youth cuts.
It's so cringe-worthy when dumb old rappers decide to dive into politics, this whole album sounds like a sleep deprived /hung over college freshman giving a verbose/ incoherent answer in a polisci 101 speech and then cussing to try to act like he's cool.
"Fascism and police shit! Fuckin gotta loot bitch! Kill your masters damn right. Rioting is the language of the soul bro."

"Think this is the coolest album to hate on in 2016 and I picked the wrong side to sit on damn"
This thread is literally the same exact thread as literally every hip hop album to literally come out in 2016 like literally
Well other then the thread for the new Tribe album

That's pretty accurate tbf. If you liked stuff on the previous two you'll find tracks here that suit you, otherwise don't expect to be converted by this one.

This is definitely their best from a production standpoint. A bigger variety of sounds and more tricks thrown into the songwriting.

Using songwriting for describing most hip hop feels wierd. Like how much songwriting is involved in throwing bars down over a beat?
|

good to hear this is best from a production perspective as ive found el-ps production on this project and RAP Music to be the low point of his career

"Using songwriting for describing most hip hop feels wierd. Like how much songwiriing is involved in throwing bars down over a beat?"
for some not much, for others theres a lot more to it than that, obviously. placement, flow, scheme, concept and how that all works with and compliments the beat is all super important. that can take a lot of consideration

"Like how much songwiriing is involved in throwing bars down over a beat?"
A lot more than you would think

It's almost like not every songwriter takes the same approach to their craft, like music is diverse even within a given genre or some shit. When will conformity eliminate our need to express ourselves????

My issue is not that crafting good rap music is easy, all I said was its weird to call it songwriting, when under technical terms, many rap songs aren't songs because they're not singing. It's good due to the complexity and/or catchiness of the rhythms, beats, and lyrical chanting.
It takes a ton of talent and skill to create good hip hop though, don't get me wrong. They're just closer to African poetic dance and traditions than European Song traditions. So it's not really technically songwriting. Or am I completely off?
