Funny thing is with this ep, and everything post SMRC really, is that they sound completely ferocious and unhinged but use a pretty vintage overdriven guitar tone like Virus, so all those odd voicings ring out and fill the sound. Some really great bass lines on this, too.

yeah im also pretty sure they use single coils for some layering in the guitar tones, super interesting way of doing it but creates such an atmosphere

yea I tend to really dig bands who use that sound in more extreme genres (Morbus Chron came to my mind immediately), it really allows a lot more creative space which high distortion would just smother. so if anyone knows some more death/black metal with that sort of guitar tone, feel free to rec me some.
